Jack and Mel

Hope이 Doc을 한 대 쥐어박은 후
(Doc) What did you do that for? 왜 때려?  
(Hope) You need to rehire Mel, ASAP. 당장 멜 재고용해! 
Absolutely not. 절대로 안돼.
Why? Because she defied you? 왜? 멜이 당신을 거스르니까?
*defy: 반항하다, 거역하다, 설명/묘사 등이 불가능하다, 견뎌내다.
You need her help with Lilly, and she's the only one fit to take Chloe. 멜은 유일하게 릴리를 돕고 클로이를 돌볼 수 있는 사람이야. 
She was the one who quit first. 자기가 먼저 그만둔 거라고.
I mean, I-- I suggest you find yourself another solution. 그러니 다른 방법을 찾으라고 했잖아. 
If you turn down Mel's help, and Lilly loses her baby, 멜이 돕겠다는 걸 거절하면 릴리는 아기를 잃게 돼. 
I'm going to blame you. 그러면 다 당신 탓이야.
Now, Hope, Hope, don't--  아니, 홉, 그러지 마.

[thumping and crashing] 내부 리모델링 중 쿵쿵 거리는 소리.
(Ricky) What-- what'd that wall ever do to you? 잭, 벽하고 원수 졌어요? 
(Jack) Nothin' that I know of. 그런 기억 없는데. 
You all right? 괜찮은 거죠?
I'm good. I'm good. We just gotta move this along. 괜찮지 그럼, 속도 좀 내자. 
*move along: 움직이다, 비키다, 따라 움직이다. 
What's the rush? 왜 그리 급해요?
We need Mel to stay. 우린 멜이 남도록 해야 하잖아. 
We? 우리요?
Virgin River needs her. 버진리버에 꼭 필요하지. 
Doc isn't getting any younger. 선생님은 계속 늙어가시니까. 
Yeah, she's the hottest doctor I think I have ever seen. 그렇게 섹시한 의사는 지금껏 본 적이 없어요. 
Hey, hey. She's a nurse practitioner, and you just be respectful. 이봐, 임상간호사야. 그리고 예의를 갖춰. 
And that windowsill is still crooked. 그리고 그 창턱 아직 휘어있다.
* windowsill: 창턱 / crooked: 비뚤어진, 구부러진, 부정적인, 짜증 나는 
So, I, uh.. I heard you found a baby on Doc's doorstep. 그나저나 선생님 집 현관에서 아기를 발견했다고 들었어요.
Oh, you did, did you? And where did you hear that? 그래? 어디서 들었니? 
My grandma. She got a call from some lady on the PTA. 할머니요. 학부모회 사람이 전화해서 알려줬대요. 
* PTA(Parent-Teacher Association): 학부모회, 사친회 
Yeah, word travels fast around here. 그래, 소문 한번 빠르네. 
I-- I had to sit through a lecture about being a gentleman with the ladies. 그것 때문에 여자들한테 함부로 손대지 말라고 일장 연설 들었어요.
* sit through: 끝까지 자리를 지키다. 
Your grandmother has a point. 할머니 말씀 잘 새겨. 
I hope you're smart enough to stay out of trouble. 넌 똑똑한 녀석이니 사고 안 치리라 믿는다. 
Can we go on talkin' about the hot doctor? 섹시한 선생님 얘기마저 하면 안 돼요? 
Hey. What'd I say about being respectful? 내가 예의 갖추라고 했지? 
Okay. I'm sorry, but respectfully, you know, she's extremely-- 네, 죄송해요, 예의를 갖춰 말하는 건데 진짜.. 
Okay. I'm gonna head back to the bar. 그만, 난 바에 가봐야겠다. 
Okay. I, uh... I got this. 알겠어요, 제가.. 마무리 할게요. 
 

 

#55 (Jack's Bar)
(Jack) Hey. You look serious. 어서와요, 표정이 심각하네요. 
(Mel) And you look sweaty. 그쪽은 땀범벅이고요.
* sweaty: 땀투성이의, 땀범벅의  
I was helping out a friend. 친구 좀 돕느라고요. 
So, where's Chloe? 클로이는요? 
Uh, Paige volunteered to watch her. 페이지가 봐주겠다고 해서요. 
She eating any better? 애는 이제 좀 먹어요? 
No. She hates the bottle, 아뇨, 젖병을 싫어해요. 
and she's barely eating enough to keep up her weight, 체중보다 먹는 양이 너무 적고,
which means she's hungry and cranky. 배고파서 계쏙 찡얼대죠.
* cranky: 짜증 내는, 기이한.
Well, how are you holdin' up? 그럼, 당신은 좀 어때요?
* hold up: 견디다.
I mean, between Chloe and work, you must be exhausted. 일하랴, 클로이 돌보랴 정신없을 텐데요. 
Yeah. Well, no work today, 'cause I got fired yesterday. 오늘은 일 안 했어요, 어제 해고됐거든요. 
Why? 왜요?
Well, he refused to call Social Services, so I did. 선생님이 복지국에 신고를 안 하겠다 하셔서, 제가 했거든요. 
Well, for the record, I think you were right to do what you did. 난 멜이 해야 할 일을 했다고 생각해요. 
Thank you. 고마워요. 
You want me to talk to Doc for you? 내가 선생님과 얘기해 볼까요? 
No. No, no, no. This is my problem. 아뇨, 이건 제 문제인걸요. 
Thank you for offering, though. 마음 써준 건 고마워요.
Sure. Have you eaten? 물론이죠. 식사는 했어요? 
No, I'm not hungry. 아뇨, 배 안고파요. 
No, come on. You gotta eat. 그래도 거르면 안 되죠. 
Well, I have to go pick up Chloe from Paige, so... 페이지 집에 가서 클로이 데리고 와야 해요.
Okay. Then why don't I fix some food, and we'll take it to go? 그럼 먹을 것 좀 포장해서 같이 나가요. 
A little fresh air will be good for both your appetites, I think. 신선한 바람 좀 쐬면 둘 다 식욕이 돌아올지도 모르죠.
Fresh air? 신선한 공기요? -Yeah. 네.
Ah. Where is this fresh air, exactly? 신선한 공기가 어디 있다는 거죠?
Well, you'll see when we get there. 도착하면 알 거예요. 
Ah... Jack, I'm not really up for surprises today. 잭, 오늘은 정말 깜짝 선물을 즐길 마음의 여유가 없네요. 
I'm gonna pick you and Chloe up from your place in an hour. 한 시간 후에 집으로 둘을 데리러 갈게요.
